Heart Disease, Pregnancy and Misdiagnosis
WomenHeart recently released the third in a series of three videos featuring WomenHeart Champions’ misdiagnosis stories. Charity had various signs and symptoms of heart disease toward the end of her pregnancy and in the weeks that followed delivery, but no one mentioned the risk of heart disease until she was sent to the ER in a wheelchair. You can watch Charity’s story ([link removed] and learn more ([link removed] about the campaign, which includes an opportunity to write your members of Congress ([link removed] to raise awareness of this problem.
WomenHeart Visits Capitol Hill (Virtually)
WomenHeart hosted a virtual advocacy day on March 2. WomenHeart Champions, SAC and board members spoke to members of Congress and their staff about our priorities for more research funding on heart disease in women. Read more in our blog ([link removed] about how the participants from over a dozen states shared their heart stories and asked Senators to cosponsor the CAROL Act, a bill that would invest in research and awareness for heart valve disease. You can amplify their work by emailing your Senators ([link removed] and asking them to support this bill today.
