Dear friend,
As you may know, tomorrow marks the beginning of Arab American Heritage Month, a month dedicated to uplifting the history and contributions of Arab Americans. However, did you also know that every year, Arab Americans nationwide come together for a day to give back to their local communities? National Arab American Service Day (NAASD) unites thousands of volunteers every year through community service. This year, NAASD is on May 14, and we need your help to make the greatest impact!
NAASD is a project of the National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC), a national institution of ACCESS that includes 29 Arab American community-based member organizations in 12 states, working together to build institutions and elevate the voice of Arab Americans across the nation.
The goal of Service Day is for community members in various states to come together for a day and give back to their communities through service that aims to foster a culture of leadership, community engagement and volunteerism. This year’s 16th Annual NAASD will bring together 15 Arab American community organizations in 9 different states with the goal of establishing local partnerships and organizing unique community projects, like neighborhood beautifications that will include mural painting, the creation of baseball fields and a number of other community projects, under the theme Serving Communities, Connecting People.
Over 1,500 volunteers—including 250 from Southeast Michigan—will participate in Service Day. Your donation will help ensure that this year’s participants have the resources and tools necessary to carry out the individual projects in each of their respective communities.
Donate today and help us contribute to making our communities and the world we live in more beautiful, inclusive and inviting for all. We appreciate and look forward to your contribution to this nationwide community service initiative!
Warmest regards,
Maha Freij
