Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance, a time when we remember the names of all the trans people who have been victims of violence this year. It’s important to say the names of those who have passed and to create space for our community to grieve. By coming together to mourn, we are reminded of our collective resiliency and power.

According to our latest research brief, “Diversity of Youth Gender Identity ([link removed]) ,” one in four LGBTQ youth identified with genders that go beyond the gender binary (man/boy or woman/girl). Yet in our National Survey on LGBTQ Youth Mental Health ([link removed]) , we found that 78% of transgender and non-binary youth reported being the subject of discrimination due to their gender identity.

At The Trevor Project, we honor the lives of transgender people by providing crisis counseling that’s available 24/7, 365 days a year. We show up for LGBTQ young people who are struggling, regardless of the day, so we can build a safer, more inclusive future together.
