But right now, John, they need your help. The midterm elections will be here before we know it, and we cannot afford to lose a single SEEC member’s seat. Republicans are ramping up to unseat dozens of our swing seat members like Reps. Matt Cartwright, Katie Porter, Andy Kim, Susan Wild, and many more. With Republican organizations raising money hand over fist, we need to protect our pro-environment members earlier than ever.
We’re making real progress, John. SEEC members successfully pushed for clean energy and climate policies in this year’s $1.4 trillion omnibus government spending package, and now we are pushing for bolder and more comprehensive action from the Biden administration and Democratic leadership in Congress to meet the scale of the climate crisis.
We are also fighting for the protection of at least 30% of US lands and waters by 2030, and have been the loudest voices in Congress for defending our most-critical wildlife, like gray wolves. And our members have done the hard work of holding the Biden administration accountable, urging Joe Biden to keep his campaign promises to stop drilling on federal lands.
Thanks to your help in 2020, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats.
