Let's take a moment to talk about the reality of campaign finance for
House members like Alexandria.

Two year terms allow for the House to be the most responsive body to the
people – it’s one of the many reasons it’s called “The People’s House.”
But because of this, House members are perpetually in election mode
(unlike Senators who are allotted six year terms).

For many House members, that means they have to spend more time
fundraising and less time governing. But that’s not the case for
Alexandria – thanks to all of you. She said:

“I am lucky in that you all support me through small dollar donations and
that gives me a lot of time to focus more on work than many other
[members] get.”

Every small-dollar contribution to our campaign allows Alexandria to spend
her time on what matters – preparing for hearings, writing legislation,
meeting with communities – and less time fundraising.
