Team Kelly here -- we've had a lot of folks reach out about the tornado in Northwest Arkansas on Tuesday and wanted to update you.
Kelly's social work internship has her working with first responders in Springdale, and we'll continue keeping her Twitter and Facebook up to date as she learns more. We're seeing an incredible outpouring of support from across the state, and it means so much. <3
Here are a few other updates:
Updates from Arkansas Red Cross and Rep. Megan Godfrey:
- If you need a place to stay: The Arkansas Red Cross and the City of Springdale have a command center at the Parks and Rec Center, and they're coordinating with United Way to make sure everyone has a place to stay.
- If you want to volunteer: Call Neighborhood Services at 479-756-7712. They are coordinating all of the generous volunteers from across the state in a systematic and organized fashion. *Please* call ahead to participate in any debris removal.
- If you need debris removed: The public works department is facilitating all debris removal for *no cost*. Call 479-750-8135 to schedule a removal time.
Irvin Camacho put together a list of GoFundMe's to support local families: https://www.facebook.com/1072104842813813/posts/5306786972678891
Arkansas Coalition of Marshallese and the Marshallese Educational Initiative are requesting donations; they especially need hygiene products. You can also donate financially to directly support their work. If you're in NWA but need help getting these items to Springdale, Team Kelly is running a donation drive. Here is the complete list of items we’re collecting.
Thank you again, and if you’d like to stay updated, please follow our Twitter and Facebook as we will continue to post as we learn more. <3
