Dear John,
Today is Trans Day of Visibility, a day to honor transgender people and bring attention to the discrimination and violence trans people – especially Black trans women and girls – experience across the world. [1]
This year, the celebration feels especially somber as anti-trans politicians have introduced more than 100 pieces of legislation that attempt to force trans people out of public life. [2] Florida’s recently passed “Don’t Say Gay” law greatly limits what teachers can tell students about gender and sexuality and there are countless pieces of legislation attempting to ban trans women and girls from sports. Anti-trans politicians have made it clear that preventing trans people from living their lives as their happiest, healthiest selves is their primary objective.
We feel one of the best ways to celebrate the trans people in our lives is to give others the tools to counter violent, anti-trans rhetoric and support trans people. Whether you’re looking to:
· bust myths about gender-affirming care for trans youth,
· donate to support trans folks living in a red state,
· get the facts on trans women and girls in sports,
· or donate directly to trans people,
we are constantly looking to share and create resources that say loudly and clearly: trans people belong – no exceptions.
Trans Day of Visibility needs to be more than a singular day to pay lip service to the harms our society does to trans people. It needs to be a day where resources are shared that directly benefit trans people. We hope you’ll join us in making this holiday count.
In Solidarity,

P.S. As both trans people and abortion access are under attack, it’s more important than ever to understand the links between anti-trans and anti-abortion activism. Check out this article from our friends at Dame magazine to learn more.
