John – With over two dozen candidates on our slate this cycle, we have a LOT of work to do.
Brand New Congress has elections happening from now until November, including 14 in just the next 75 days. Each one of our candidates has big challenges to overcome and they are counting on the extra support BNC is able to offer at critical moments in their campaign.
Because that’s how we win these elections, John.
It’s not about having the most money – we’ll never raise as much as super PACs or pro-corporate candidates. It’s not about hiring the biggest consulting firms or even having the biggest staff.
It’s about being ready in that make-or-break moment when the campaign suddenly turns and our candidate has a clear advantage.
It happened in 2018 when Joe Crowley sent a surrogate to debate on his behalf instead of facing AOC directly.
It happened in 2020 when Eliot Engel was caught on a hot mic saying he only wanted to speak at an event because he was facing a primary. And when Lacy Clay sent out racially-charged mailers attacking Cori Bush for having faced eviction and homelessness.
And it’s already happened twice this year – when Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick only needed 5 extra votes to win her primary and Jessica Cisneros’ opponent was raided by the FBI.
These are the times when a race can massively shift in our candidates’ favor. But it only works IF we are ready to strike when that moment arrives.
We set our fundraising goals based on the money we need to raise to support our candidates effectively. When we fall short, we have to make hard choices. And sometimes those choices mean we aren’t ready to seize the moment when we’re needed most.
John, today we are still $2,603 short of the absolute minimum we have to raise to carry out our plans for April and lay the groundwork for success with 14 elections in May and early June.
I am asking you to dig deep today and pitch in $50, $100, $250, or anything you can spare to make sure we STAY ready. Can I count on you to make a contribution right now?
