First, Marco Rubio spoke on gun safety at a town hall just seven days after my daughter, Jaime, was murdered at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. He couldn't even look at me when I confronted him about restricting access to assault weapons like the one that killed my Jaime. Ever since then, Marco Rubio has remorselessly opposed even bipartisan efforts to reduce gun violence.

But then, Democrats took back the House. Bold change-makers like Congresswoman Val Demings passed commonsense, lifesaving gun safety reform. And in the Senate, Marco Rubio – the gun lobby's lackey – ensured the laws we need to curb the gun violence epidemic in this country would never see the light of day.
