Dear John
Thanks to your support, the Government has backed down on
two antidemocratic clauses in the Elections Bill.
These clauses would have had the
effect of preventing campaigners from working together at election
time and even banning some campaigners outright. Their removal is
testament to what can be achieved when Best for Britain, partner
organisations, unions and politicians work together to defend
democracy.
But we cannot be complacent. We need your
support.
We have made good progress on
what remains a deeply authoritarian bill that would allow ministers to
change election rules on a whim and undermine free and fair elections
in the UK. We will not rest until all undemocratic clauses in this
bill are scrapped.
And that is why
we need your support. They’re not stopping, so
neither will we.
The threats our democracy faces are
unrelenting, so we must be relentless too. None of what we have done
so far - and none of what we will be able to do in future - would be
possible without your continued support.
Best wishes,
Naomi Smith
CEO - Best for Britain
P.S. Parliament may be going into recess soon,
but we won’t be taking a break. Will you support Best for Britain with a regular gift of £10 per
month?
