Donald Trump just publicly asked Putin to dig up dirt on the Biden Family; Tucker Carlson keeps hand-feeding Kremlin propaganda to his audience; the 1/6 Committee continues to uncover disturbing evidence regarding the very real attempt to overthrow our government. But that's not what this email is about.

I've often criticized the breathless, fear-inducing, sky-is-falling fundraising emails that come this time of month. But guess what? Sadly, they work. After all, fear is one of the most powerful motivators.

But imagine, just for a moment (and however skeptically), an America in which our leaders sought to inspire us; dared us to imagine politics and problem solving differently; appealed to the best in us instead of the worst.

That's a country I believe reasonable people of goodwill want to live in. That's the nation Country First is fighting to create for our kids and grandkids.

Country First is a home for good, reasonable people from across the spectrum, but especially those who recognize that neither party's bosses put the country above their political interests. And according to just about every poll out there: The politically homeless are the disenfranchised majority in America.

We have the power to take on the failed politics of today, and bring truth and accountability back to government. And, sure, it helps that my profile allows me to go on TV and promote our mission, but the real change is going to come from the grassroots.

That work doesn't come cheap, but I can assure you we have fantastic volunteers and leaders who allow us to dramatically multiply the impact of every dollar invested with us.

So, yes, if you're in a position to do so, I am asking for your most generous gift to our cause -- but not by appealing to our shared fear of what our nation will become if we do nothing, but by appealing to our shared hope that, together, we can leave our kids and grandkids a saner, healthier, and more hopeful country.

I've included below a summary of the awesome grassroots work we're doing, and hope you'll get involved however you can.  It's people like you -- who through contributing or volunteering or spreading the word or all of the above -- bring this movement to life. And I'm grateful.

COUNTRY FIRST GRASSROOTS UPDATE

UNIFY CHALLENGE

Country First is proud to announce our Unify Challenge, where we'll link two people for a live one-on-one online conversation (like Zoom) who may live across the country and/or have a different outlook on things. It’s not a debate. It’s an invitation to have a productive, open, guided conversation with a fellow American to find common ground and talk about issues our country faces. This is a great opportunity to share with your family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, and/or classmates. We think this will be an incredibly valuable program, so please do not miss out!

PRIMARY FIRST & STATE CHAPTERS

Country First state chapter leaders are currently undergoing training and meeting about best ways to organize around Primary First – our first-of-its-kind primary election strategy to take on the most toxic partisans. ICYMI – Primary First was successful in Texas! Voters in the 68th District of TX rejected the pro-insurrection candidate running in the GOP primary. Thank you to our Texas members for their hard work in organizing around this plan!

There is a ton of excitement for this aspect of the movement. Trust me when I say that our National Grassroots Team and state organizing committees are working tirelessly to lay the foundation for robust conversations, candidate tracking, idea sharing, and community development.

NEXT GENERATION ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM

Country First is currently recruiting college students all across the country to participate in our Next Generation Engagement Program. Through this program, students who are often forced to choose between highly partisan and toxic campus political organizations will have the opportunity to join our movement, learn about our mission, and become a leader on their campus. Campus organizers from university campuses will work together in this program to provide recommendations to the movement, lead national initiatives, and ensure our next generation is putting country before party.

PRIVATE FACEBOOK COMMUNITY

With over 1,300 active members, our private Facebook community has proven that respectful civil discourse is ready to take its place back on our social media timelines. Our moderators have launched a challenge for 500+ individuals to share their story on why they joined the movement. Outside all of the noise and turbulence, it is imperative we check in with one another, discuss our origins, and take mental benchmarks together.
