Friends,
The Trump administration’s latest move to shut science out of our policymaking process is appalling.
The EPA’s new rule would require scientists to disclose their raw data, including confidential information such as personal medical records that would be unethical to reveal.
Trump and his lackeys are pretending this is about transparency, but the reality is that this would be weaponized to invalidate studies linking pollution and disease which have been the basis for public health regulations for decades.
We must fight back against this attack on science and our safety: Sign on to condemn the Trump administration’s dangerous disregard for the truth >>
This measure makes it more difficult to enact new clean air and water rules and even retroactively applies to regulations already in place -- allowing the EPA to justify rolling back or failing to update rules that are critical to safeguarding the health of our environment and our communities.
Smog in our air, mercury in our water, lead in our paint -- we know for a fact that pollutants and environmental toxins like these are dangers that we must combat. This administration’s effort to deny so is an abhorrent failure to protect American citizens.
This law will give big industries the green light to pollute our environment unchecked. We have to speak out: Add your name to condemn the EPA’s move to take facts out of the picture >>
This administration’s refusal to acknowledge science, facts, and common sense puts us all in danger.
We must take action,
-- Sean Casten
