John, in a moment, I’m going to ask you to make a $3 contribution to help us meet our $150,000 end-of-quarter fundraising goal. But first, I’d like to explain why we must fight harder than ever to unseat Henry Cuellar on May 24.

What we have seen unfold during this election makes one thing clear: South Texans deserve far better than what Henry Cuellar is giving. There is no way around it and there is nothing Cuellar can do to hide his record of failing to deliver for our community. That’s why he did not receive half of the vote during the primary.

Despite his home and campaign office being raided by the FBI, Cuellar has gone back to business — hosting thousand-dollar plate fundraisers and receiving thousands from corporations. We deserve a transparent Congressperson who is focused on serving the District, not someone who makes us question their true intentions and serves only their corporate donors.

With eight weeks until the runoff, we must do all we can to send Jessica Cisneros, a true progressive champion, to Congress. But we know the fight to defeat Henry Cuellar won’t be easy. Despite the FBI probe, he’s determined to get re-elected. He currently has $2.3 million in campaign cash and is backed by the NRA, Big Oil, the Koch network, the private prison industry, and corporate PACs. He frequently has voted with conservatives in Congress to halt progress on reproductive rights or pro-labor legislation. That’s why we need your help.

South Texans have had to pay the price of Henry Cuellar’s conservative agenda for far too long. This is our last EOQ before the runoff and we set an ambitious goal to fund the on-the-ground initiatives Jessica needs to win.
