We just crunched the numbers, John, and unfortunately, we’re a little behind on our first end-of-quarter fundraising goal of the year.

It’s important that we get back on track because once the deadline expires tomorrow night, that’s it. Our numbers from this quarter will be locked in — no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Once we send our fundraising numbers to the Federal Election Commission, they will be made public for everyone from Kevin McCarthy to our Republican opponents to see, and we won’t get any do-overs.

This’ll be the first time folks will see our campaign’s finances since we launched our reelection campaign earlier this month, so our numbers will be under close watch. If we come up short, Republicans will know we’re vulnerable and the attacks will start rolling in. That’s why it’s so important that we get back on track before time runs out.
