I hope that this better helps you understand why our work — and your support — is so critical to our success.
John, it's Jesse, Jamaal's Finance Director.
I wanted to share with you below an excerpt of a memo that Luke (our campaign manager) sent to our campaign-wide staff yesterday.
Most campaigns would keep information like this private, but not us. We want to be as transparent to you and the rest of our team as possible, because this our campaign — this movement — isn't possible without you. And we're sharing all this with you with the expectation that you will hold us accountable in reaching these goals.
If you don't have time to read through this right now, please consider donating to help us reach our $64,000 end-of-quarter goal by tomorrow midnight.

Subject: [MEMO] Priorities and Goals for Q2 2022
To: Team Bowman (Campaign)
Topline goals
- Hiring: Starting in early April, we want to be hiring more organizers starting to begin ramping up voter outreach in the new parts of the district.
- Approx. 25% of the voters are new and they live in less dense areas in Westchester with less public transit options for our volunteers.
- Organizing canvasses this cycle is going to be more complicated and more expensive = need to hire more capacity.
- Paid communications: We have paid communications, mail, and digital outreach we want to start doing in the new parts of the district as well as the old — we make sure voters hear about all the things Jamaal has been delivering on and fighting for.
- Our opponent is going to go very negative on Jamaal and we have to be countering that ad for ad, mailer for mailer, or our message will be drowned out.
Reminders
- We won in 2020 because we connected. We got to Washington by building grassroots power and truly listening to our communities — and we'll do it again.
- There are plenty of people who are waiting in the wings to see us come up short: our opponent, definitely the GOP, even members of the Democratic establishment.
- Most importantly, Q2 will be a make-or-break quarter for the campaign. Not hitting our fundraising goals means we will have to pause that ramp-up and risk letting our opponent frame Jamaal with negative messaging. We need to hit these targets because it will impact our plans to scale up if we don't.
I hope that this better helps you understand why our work — and your support — is so critical to our success, John.
So, before tomorrow's deadline, will you please chip in $3? Your donation will not only help us meet our critical end-of-quarter fundraising goal, but it'll also help us accomplish the goals listed out on the memo over the next three months.
