Moments ago, Gov. Ducey signed into law a bill (passed along party lines) that ends the right of Arizonans to choose an abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy.

As a teacher, as an Arizona legislator who served for five years on behalf of constituents who elected me to stand up for their healthcare rights, and above all, as a mom who has chosen to raise a family, I am outraged by this assault on my daughter’s generation and their dreams for their future.

I channeled my frustration into this Op-Ed, because I know the anti-choice, anti-freedom agenda behind these extreme bans is out of touch with the overwhelming majority of Americans who support the right to an abortion.

Make no mistake, if Roe v. Wade is overturned in June as we fear, a whole host of implied Constitutional rights that we take for granted are no longer guaranteed to be safe either.

Together, we will build the resources we need to effectively fight back against these repeated attacks on our right to healthcare and bodily autonomy.
