Hi John,

Today, for Transgender Day of Remembrance and Resilience, I want to make one thing very clear: Black trans women have the solutions to violence, and we must be trusted to lead.

So this TDOR, I’m asking you to lift up the work of Transgender Law Center’s Black Trans Circles (BTC) program. Yesterday, we released a teaser video about the program, and today, BTC’s founder Raquel Willis published a moving op-ed in Essence about our critical work.

Let's go beyond mourning and take action together. Share the Black Trans Circles page and the Essence article to show the power of Black trans leadership.

Black Trans Circles develops the leadership of Black trans women in the South, and soon the Midwest, through the creation of healing justice spaces to work through oppression-based trauma and incubate community organizing efforts to address anti-trans murder and violence.

As Black trans women, we need allies to fund our work, support us in gathering and building community and support, and amplify our voices while we’re alive – not just say our names when we’re killed.

As National Organizer at TLC, I’m proud to work with Organizing Program Associate Mariah Moore and TLC@SONG Organizer Kayla Gore on BTC’s work of building safety, solace, and support. Please share Black Trans Circles with your communities this TDOR.

In solidarity,

Micky B

P.S. If you’re in New York, join us tonight at the TransLash TDOR event, featuring two youth leaders from TLC and GSA Network’s TRUTH program.
