John,
This action is getting really popular. We hoped to reach a few dozen campuses, but we're on track to reach hundreds. That's right, hundreds of communities across America seeing "birth control packs" appearing in their local drugstores, sparking a groundswell of support to #FreeThePill.
We extended the deadline to April 4th so you could join this nationwide action here. If you or someone you know is ages 14-24, and want to increase access to birth control pills, take a look at the email below and sign up to join us.

Subject: Order fake birth control packs for this #FreeThePill action
To:
John,
Want us to send you birth control pills in the mail for this action? Well, we can't because you have to jump through hoops to get a prescription first. But we CAN send you boxes designed to look like birth control and YOU can put them on the shelves at your local CVS, Walgreens or student store!
- We want to help folks imagine what it would look like if birth control pills were available on the shelves - what better way than to do it ourselves! (See the mockup below!)
Why? To spark a conversation and drive people to take action to #FreeThePill. You'll also get a toolkit and instructions on how to post your drugstore "shelfie" on social media, get local media coverage (optional!), and table on campus or in your community to build support.
- We need you to do this because 2022 is a critical year in the fight to bring birth control over-the-counter and onto the shelves. This year, we anticipate that the FDA will review an application to bring a birth control pill over the counter, a groundbreaking expansion for access. We need young people and the American public to be informed and supportive.
Young activists who sign up here for this campaign will receive in the mail several fake packs of birth control pills for you to leave on the shelves at your local CVS, Walgreens, and Student Stores. Yes, really! 👇
Check out this mockup of what the boxes will look like! The front (left) is made to look like someone can actually buy birth control pills. But then when customers pick it up, they'll see on the back (right) that it's a call to action.
Did you know that in over 100 countries oral contraceptives are available over-the-counter, no prescription necessary? It's time the U.S. catches up. It's time to #FreeThePill.
Emergency Contraception, like Plan B, used to require a prescription as well. You can get it over-the-counter today because people organized, educated their community, and demanded it. We can do the same thing with birth control. But only if we find some dedicated young people to go all-in. If that’s you or someone you know, please use this link to join this action by April 4th March 23rd.
In solidarity,
Angela Maske
