Attacking basic rights Indivisibles,
After last week, Republicans’ playbook for 2022 and beyond is clear:
They’d end federal protections for interracial and gay marriage. They’d ban books, censor history, and put cameras in classrooms. They’d eliminate abortion rights under Roe v. Wade They’d prosecute parents of LGBTQ kids. They’d end Social Security and Medicare. They’d raise taxes on the lowest income earners.
(Look, we’re going to ask you for money in this email to help us go on offense and spread the word about the Republican agenda nationwide -- but if you’ve just read these things and have heard enough and want to chip in, click here.)
Folks, this isn’t hyperbole.
As Dan Pfeiffer put it in his newsletter last Thursday, “Politics is a battle of what the future is going to look like.” Between Senator Mike Braun (R-IN) saying he’d be open to the Supreme Court overturning its 1967 ruling that legalized interracial marriage nationwide, the Republican National Committee’s tweet trying to ridiculously link Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s historic confirmation to their Fox-News-Feedback-Loop Critical Race Theory hysteria, and the Idaho Governor signing a 6-week ban on abortion and enacting a Texas-style “sue thy neighbor” approach, the future that Republicans want is terrifyingly clear.
And don’t even get us started on Trump’s coup-conspirator Ginni Thomas.
Losing in November isn’t an option. And it’s time for Democrats and the grassroots to make sure America understands the Republican playbook. Every word of it.
It’s time for us all to go on offense.
The 2022 midterms are going to be tough. Really tough. We’re defending narrow margins in both the House and the Senate. And we’re going to defend them at a moment when Republicans have just spent the last three years passing laws to make it harder to vote in states across the country. But, running against this playbook?
We can win if we tell people over and over and over and over about Republicans’ vision for the future because it’s wildly unpopular. Right now, the problem is not enough Democrats are calling them on it.
But that has to change. And it has to change now (if you’re ready to chip in, click here).
-
🎥 We need videos and digital toolkits to spread them far and wide.
-
🗞️ We need ads in newspapers, on social media, and on radio.
-
💬 We need to talk to voters via postcard, through text messages, on the phone, and at the doors.
-
🗣️ We need message guides and training to help Indivisible groups in every state in the country become the messenger infrastructure that is so desperately needed right now.
We’ve talked to you a lot about our plan to win over the past several weeks, and we can’t wait to tell you more about it. But right now, we need you to do three things:
- Get in the fight by taking the Give No Ground Pledge now. We’re building a people-powered movement to hold back Republicans in the midterms. If you’re in to Give No Ground in 2022, tell us how. Do you want to talk to voters in target districts? Write letters? Let us know, and get in the fight.
- Join your local Indivisible group. Local groups are the lifeblood of this program. Hard stop. Once you’ve taken the pledge, look up your local group and reach out to connect -- they’ll be on the frontlines of this fight and need you there. If you’re already plugged in, commit now to asking three of your friends to join an Indivisible group near them. This is an all-hands-on-deck election, and in these early days, one of the most important things we can do is grow this movement.
They’ve shown us just how much is at stake. Now, it’s time to fight like hell.
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
