The Democratic candidates for president will be gathering on a stage tonight to talk about what they'll do if they win the presidency. I know that a Democrat can -- and must -- beat Donald Trump next year. But the work of saving our democracy can't wait until January 2021 and it won't happen just by winning the White House. Our work is right now.

Next year is our last chance to elect fair maps champions before the 2021 redistricting cycle, so we have to make the most of it. That means I need you now. Will you make an immediate donation to help us make the next year our best ever?

The fact is, no matter which Democrat wins the White House next November, if we don't achieve fair redistricting, that president will be stuck with a gerrymandered Congress that blocks every one of the progressive policies we all support. That's one reason the NDRC has been fighting for fair maps since 2017, and we've made some incredible progress.

But if the last few years have taught us anything, it's that no one is going to save our democracy for us. We have to fight for it.

I'm exceptionally proud of the way we've been fighting. Just this month, Democrats have flipped two legislative bodies and won two governor's offices, making fair maps more likely in Virginia, Kentucky, and Louisiana.

But this next year will be our most important yet, and we have to pull out all the stops. We need to be on the ground in as many states as possible. Reacting to every court decision. Pushing for reforms at the ballot box. And continuing to build our citizen movement.

You've been with us every step of the way, friend, but I need you more than ever. Will you pitch in to help us finish the fight for fair maps?
