Dear John,
This Saturday, farmworkers from Immokalee and their families will be boarding charter buses to make their way to Palm Beach to lead a 5-mile march calling on Wendy's to help end modern slavery in the fields by joining the Fair Food Program. And they won't be alone. Hundreds of people from around the Sunshine State and across the country — including author and human rights activist Kerry Kennedy and several national faith leaders from various denominations — will be marching at their side.
In light of the horrifying wave of modern-day slavery operations uncovered in North American agriculture in recent months, we must hold Wendy's Board Chair Nelson Peltz accountable for standing in the way of the fast-food chain joining the only human rights program proven to prevent forced labor and other human rights violations in the fields.
We know it's not possible for all our supporters to join us in Florida. But you can still be a part of this critical moment by contributing toward our $10,000 goal to fund a bus of farmworkers to Palm Beach and purchase water and nutritious meals to fuel a day of marching. Can you make a $3 donation today? [[link removed]]

Horrific modern-day slavery cases continue surfacing outside the reach of the Fair Food Program. In one of several recent prosecutions, 24 people were arrested as part of a forced labor conspiracy alleged to have affected 71,000 workers and netted over $200 million in illegal profits in a multi-year operation in the onion fields of South Georgia.
The official indictment from the Department of Justice stated: “The conspirators are accused of raping, kidnapping and threatening or attempting to kill some of the workers or their families, and in many cases sold or traded the workers to other conspirators. At least two of the workers died as a result of workplace conditions.”
By refusing to commit to the Fair Food Program, Wendy’s has continued to turn a blind eye to the growing wave of brutal forced labor operations in the fields. That is why farmworkers, their children and hundreds of consumer allies are marching on April 2 in Palm Beach, home of Wendy's Board Chair Nelson Peltz and Wendy's largest institutional shareholder Trian Partners.
And we are counting on allies like you to help us fuel the March to End Modern Slavery in the Fields this weekend! We still have to raise $8,300 in order to reach our goal. Make a $3 donation to support the CIW's farmworker bus mobilization, [[link removed]] or if you’re not in a position to give, share our fundraising campaign with five friends who might be able to contribute.
