John,
I wanted to be sure you didn’t miss Michael’s email about Rep. John Larson (CT-1).
Rep. Larson is the most aggressive champion for Social Security expansion that we have had in Congress in the time that Social Security Works has existed. But he is facing a primary challenger who is cynically misrepresenting his record on the issue―so we need to come together to send a strong message: When members of Congress fight for us, we’ll fight for them.
Rush a donation to Rep. Larson’s re-election campaign and send a fearless Social Security champion back to Congress!
Tomorrow’s FEC fundraising deadline is a test of strength for our movement. The amounts that each candidate raise will become public. Rush a donation today.
Thanks,
Alex Lawson Social Security Works PAC

John,
Rick Scott, the Medicare fraudster1-turned-Florida Senator, is now in charge of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. In that capacity, he’s pushing a plan that’s too extreme even for Fox News!2
Mitch McConnell described Scott’s plan as one that would “sunset Social Security and Medicare in five years.” This comes after Donald Trump attempted to defund Social Security and Medicare―the most serious attack on our earned benefits since the George W. Bush era.
Rep. John Larson is one of the strongest Social Security champions in the House of Representatives. He’s taking the fight to Rick Scott, even in the pages of the Wall Street Journal, daring them to compare Sen. Scott’s plan to his own Social Security 2100 Act.
When our champions fight for us, we need to have their backs. Can you make a donation to Rep. Larson’s campaign to ensure that he remains in Congress, fighting to Expand Social Security?
Rep. Larson wrote to the Wall Street Journal3 to defend our Social Security system after they published Sen. Rick Scott’s op-ed announcing his plan:
The urgency to act on Social Security is clear. The elderly are not only the most susceptible to this pandemic; since they are on fixed incomes, they are also the most susceptible to inflation. They need help and they need it now. It has been more than 50 years since Congress enhanced Social Security benefits and 39 years since it strengthened the program. That’s why Social Security 2100: A Sacred Trust is currently being marked up in the House Ways and Means Committee and has bipartisan support among Americans and more than 200 co-sponsors in Congress. It boosts benefits and strengthens the program.
Rep. Larson has worked hand-in-glove with Social Security Works to build support for Social Security expansion over the past decade. Through his tireless work, nearly every member of the Democratic caucus in the House is on board. Together, we have changed the conversation from “everyone knows we need to cut Social Security” to “We should EXPAND, never cut, Social Security.” If Rep. Larson loses his re-election, it would send a chilling signal throughout Congress. That’s why he was our first endorsement for 2022.
Donate DIRECTLY to Rep. John Larson’s campaign so we can keep fighting to expand Social Security!
Thanks,
Michael Phelan
