The Actors Fund enews

As we head into the holiday season, calendars seem to fill up faster, days often feel shorter, and one event immediately follows the next. So it’s extra important to take care of yourself and your families, friends and colleagues—and take some time to pause and enjoy it all!

The Actors Fund is thrilled to partner with the John Gore Organization to bring flu shots to national touring companies across the country, via The Actors Fund Flu Shot Program for Touring Companies. We’re committed to caring for our performing arts family when they’re at home and on the road, and we’re honored that the John Gore Foundation has joined us in this endeavor.

We also had an invigorating fall season in Chicago, with housing, financial wellness and health workshops free to everyone in the industry.

Finally, what better way to celebrate the holiday season than with music and a show? Join us on December 16 for Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol, starring Gavin Lee, Sierra Boggess and many more.

We look forward to sharing many moments of joy, large and small, with you throughout the coming weeks. Thank you as always for being a part of our community!

Flu Shot Program for Touring Companies

The Actors Fund is proud to team up with the John Gore Organization on the launch of The Actors Fund Flu Shot Program for Touring Companies.

The program provides flu shots to the cast, crew and traveling family members of Actors’ Equity national touring companies, as well as theatrical venue staff. Flu shots are made available at theater venues by trained pharmacists from CVS Pharmacy. If patients are insured, the flu shots are billed to the insurer; for anyone uninsured, the John Gore Organization covers the cost.

Since September, the program has administered nearly 400 flu shots to the tours of Les Misérables in Tulsa, OK; Hamilton-Angelica Tour in Philadelphia, PA; Come From Away in Cincinnati, OH; Miss Saigon in Costa Mesa, CA; Beautiful: The Carole King Musical in Portland, ME; Wicked in New Orleans, LA; Hello, Dolly! in St. Louis, MO; Aladdin in Durham, NC; Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in San Francisco, CA; Rent in Boston, MA and more.

What’s New in Chicago

The Actors Fund is thrilled to be growing our workshops and partnerships in Chicago!

Working closely with local partners at The University of Chicago’s Arts + Public Life initiative and SAG-AFTRA, The Fund presented Affordable Housing workshops at the Kaufherr Resource Center and the new Green Line Performing Arts Center in Washington Park.

The Fund also joined Howard Brown Health, SAG_AFTRA Chicago Local and CEILC for the Chicago Entertainment Community Health Fair. Attendees (union and non-union) had access to a range of free health services including flu shots; blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes screenings; rapid HIV screenings and counseling; PReP and PEP info and counseling; dental screenings; physical therapy consultations and more.

We also began financial wellness workshops to cover a variety of monetary concerns and questions.
