My first priority is always to make Richmond the best city it can be for everyone, and part of that means making sure our streets are safe. That’s why I was so proud last week when the City Council passed my ordinance ensuring mandatory reporting of stolen firearms.
Stolen guns in our communities are a threat to everyone, and this will help allow all of our residents to live safely and securely in Richmond. Last year alone, over 300 illegal guns were seized by the Richmond police. This is unacceptable, and it’s about time that we take action.
Our work doesn’t stop here, because now that we won back a majority in the Virginia General Assembly, we have the opportunity to work with them and help them follow our lead to be a nationwide leader in gun violence prevention.
I will never stop working for every resident, but I also have to stay on track with my team’s fundraising goals to ensure I can keep fighting for you as Mayor of Richmond. We have a deadline coming up tonight, and we’re still short of our goal. Will you pitch in $5, $10, or whatever you can afford before MIDNIGHT?
