Corporate polluters want you to think that burning trees for fuel provides "clean, renewable energy." It's a lie.

The truth is that chopping down trees, turning them into wood pellets, and burning them for electricity generates more carbon pollution than fossil fuels and harms forests and the wildlife that relies on them.

Enviva, the world's largest producer and exporter of these wood pellets, is degrading critical forests in North Carolina and Virginia to be exported and burned in overseas power plants — creating an environmental disaster across the southeastern United States and pushing our climate and ecosystems closer to the brink.

But with your help, we can stop them. We've set a goal of raising $220,000 in March to defend natural environments everywhere and protect our forests from the clutches of dirty energy companies telling tall tales about the damage they're doing. Forests are so much more than profit — they are living, breathing ecosystems. Enviva's actions are further imperiling the incredible animal and plant life that lives in forests in the southease U.S.. These forests also lock away carbon, which is released back into the atmosphere when they are logged for biomass. And when the pellets are burned for fuel afterwards, it further shackles us to a path towards climate destruction.

Enviva wants us to believe that their pellets are as clean and renewable as wind and solar energy. But forest biomass to produce electricity results in smokestacks bellowing carbon into the atmosphere, rural communities of color blanketed in polluted air, and tens of thousands of acres of forest shipped across the Atlantic every year — telling a different story.

To preserve our climate-saving forests, help prevent further biodiversity loss, protect our communities, and build a brighter future with actual clean energy like solar and wind, we need your help.
