Disney Vows More “LGBTQIA” Characters
It’s one of many tweets from Christopher Rufo on the event. From the tweet: Disney corporate president Karey Burke says, “as the mother [of] one transgender child and one pansexual child,” she supports having “many, many, many LGBTQIA characters in our stories” and wants a minimum of 50 percent of characters to be LGBTQIA and racial minorities ( Twitter). From Rich Lowry: It’s a five-alarm fire that the people in charge of an iconic company producing content for our children talk like they are in a SNL skit spoofing the obsessions and argot of woke fanatics. Dear lord…( Twitter).

Florida Governor Rips Disney for Support of China
From the story: The Republican governor accused Disney of skewed priorities after the company ripped his decision Monday to sign legislation barring schools from teaching about gender identity and sexuality in grades K-3, dubbed by LGBTQ advocates as the “don’t say gay” bill. “People asked me kind of about their posture on the bill, and I said, you know what? If we would have put in the bill that you were not allowed to have curriculum that discussed the oppression of the Uyghurs in China, Disney would have endorsed that in a second,” Mr. DeSantis said at a press conference.

Celebrities Put Heat on Smith over Attack on Chris Rock
From director Judd Apatow: “ He could have killed him. That’s pure out of control rage and violence. He lost his mind” ( US Magazine). From another story: The View host Whoopi Goldberg, who is also a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Board of Governors, believes Will Smith will be able to keep his Oscar after slapping Chris Rock onstage at the ceremony Sunday – but doubled down Tuesday on her expectation that he will face some kind of punishment for the on-stage assault. ‘There are consequences,’ she said during a taping of The View Tuesday. ‘There are big consequences because nobody is OK with what happened.’ ‘Nobody, nobody, nobody,’ she added ( Daily Mail). From Dr. Albert Mohler: … did you know that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had a policy against one figure in the rooms striking another? Evidently, they needed the policy. Policy was in place. Will Smith violated the policy. According to the New York Times, that policy prohibits “physical contact that is uninvited,” and in the situation, inappropriate and unwelcome or coercive sexual attention. The policy also bans intimidation, stalking abusive, or threatening behavior or bullying ( Briefing). The White House has no comment on the hit because Biden didn’t see it ( NY Post).

University Drops Investigation into Grad Student for Expressing Religious Views
From the story: Following a letter from Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville has dropped its investigation into an art therapy graduate student after classmates said her expression of religious and political viewpoints constituted “harassment” and “microaggressions.” The university issued three “No Contact” orders against Maggie DeJong demanding that she have no contact or even “indirect communication” with three of her classmates. University officials rescinded the no-contact orders within days of receiving the letter ADF attorneys sent the university in February but had claimed DeJong was under investigation. It was only after ADF attorneys demanded that the university produce “all correspondence” and “all documents” related to students’ complaints and any investigation into DeJong that the university dropped its investigation.

On the heels of CA’s draconian COVID lockdowns. It’s time to put students first! ( Twitter).

DeSantis Vetoes GOP-Drawn Congressional Map
From the story: DeSantis had pushed for his own plan that would give Republicans the chance to pick up as many as 20 out of the state’s 28 congressional seats, according to an analysis by David Wasserman of the Cook Political Report. But the state legislature approved a map this month that analysts said would likely retain Republicans’ edge in the state’s congressional delegation but wouldn’t advantage Republicans as much as the governor’s proposal would ( WSJ). From Hugh Hewitt: Good for @RonDeSantisFL. The maps in NY, IL, MD, CA etc have shown that gerrymandering is used by Democratic-run state elites to keep @HouseDems in dominant positions in their maps. The GOP states need to play by the same rules. One rule for both parties ( Twitter).

California Democrats Reject Temporary Suspension of Gas Tax, Raise Taxes Instead
They actually raised taxes on gas suppliers to use as rebates ( Fox 40). From Republican Vince Fong: Sacramento Democrats gutted a common sense bill to temporarily suspend the state’s gas tax to provide immediate relief & replaced it w/ a massive tax increase on energy producers. I wish I was making this up. What happened represents everything that is wrong w/ Sacramento ( Twitter).
