Here’s the deal, John: Marilyn is facing her first Federal Election Commission (FEC) deadline of this midterm election year – and with two Republicans already filing to challenge us, we can’t leave anything to chance.

Republicans will be poring over our numbers, searching for any sign of weakness. Reaching our goal is so important right now – because we know what could happen if we fall short in a critical moment like this.

We’ve seen it time and time again: When Democrats post weak numbers, National Republicans pounce and move their districts to the top of the GOP’s lists of targets. POLITICO and Roll Call write articles about how their district is ripe for the picking – and then right-wing cash starts flooding into the race.

We can’t let that happen, John. We must report strong numbers to prove Marilyn is here to stay.
