Our country's iconic Grand Canyon is threatened by the return of toxic uranium mining.

But right now, we have the opportunity to take new mining near the Grand Canyon off the table permanently. If passed, the Grand Canyon Protection Act would do just that -- but to win, we need your help.

We've lost vast swaths of our country's wild places -- their beauty, the wildlife they shelter, the ecosystems they support -- to development, mining, logging and oil drilling.

We can't let the Grand Canyon be opened up to any more of mining's destructive impacts.

Fortunately, the U.S. Senate is considering the Grand Canyon Protection Act. This bill, which has already passed the U.S. House of Representatives, would permanently withdraw over a million acres of land around the Grand Canyon from new mining claims.1

Some places are too precious to risk. Take action: Tell our senators to protect the Grand Canyon.

It's unfortunate that we have to pass laws to stop people from mining on the doorstep of one of the natural world's greatest treasures.

But under the previous administration, rollbacks led to the possibility of more uranium mining outside the Grand Canyon. It's happened in the past, and it's already poisoned tributaries of the Colorado River, which provides drinking water to 40 million Americans.2,3
