Hi John,
It has been an incredibly eventful few weeks that has reminded us that gun violence prevention progress IS possible. Here’s a quick recap: Yesterday, President Biden called for additional funding for community violence prevention work and outlined a “whole of government approach” his administration will take to reduce gun violence. This is the kind of comprehensive strategy we know is required to move the needle on this public health crisis and represents meaningful federal action.
This progress came on the heels of historic victories in Washington state. Last week, Governor Inslee signed three major gun responsibility bills into law to restrict high-capacity magazines, prohibit ghost guns, and reject armed intimidation. In total, the Washington legislature passed six vital community safety bills and allocated more than $8 million in funding to gun violence prevention programs this year!
These victories prove that we can prevent gun violence. They are evidence that we know how to take on the gun lobby and win. But the fight has only just begun. Right now, our opposition is raising money in a desperate attempt to undo our progress and the gun lobby is spending millions to elect extreme candidates this November.
Our quarterly fundraising deadline is this Thursday 3/31 at midnight and a generous donor has agreed to MATCH all gifts up to $10,000 to help us protect our progress. Can you give $5 to help end the gun violence epidemic?

We can’t afford to forfeit any of this hard-won progress. Gun violence may not be dominating the news cycle, but it has continued at a record-breaking pace. There have already been more than 10,000 gun deaths this year. We can reverse this deadly trend, but we can’t do it alone.
Please, give what you can today and every dollar will be doubled.
