Friend,

Today we made history! The House Judiciary Committee just voted to approve the Marijuana Opportunity Renvestment and Expungement Act (MORE Act). This is the furthest any marijuana legalization legislation has ever advanced in Congress and now it moves to the House floor.

Thank you for making this unprecedented victory possible. Please spread the word and share this incredible news on Twitter [link removed], Facebook [link removed]  and Instagram. [link removed]

We’re closer than ever to ending the federal war on marijuana and beginning to repair the devastating harms of prohibition, which have fallen so heavily on Black and Brown people.

With your support, DPA has led the way on marijuana law reform for decades. And now we’re playing a pivotal role in ensuring not only that marijuana is legalized, but that it’s done the right way.

The MORE Act is a powerful step toward righting the wrongs of prohibition and advancing marijuana justice for all. It would de-schedule marijuana and reinvest marijuana tax revenue in those who have been most affected by failed marijuana laws. It would also support equitable licensing, prevent deportation and provide for federal resentencing and expungement for marijuana cases.

While this bill won’t make up for the full scale of harm that prohibition has caused to its victims, it’s the closest we’ve come yet to ending those harms at the federal level while also beginning to repair them.

Thanks to you, the MORE Act is moving forward. Now it’s up to Congress to swiftly pass the bill and not delay a moment longer. And we need your continued support to make sure that happens. Please make a donation today to help us keep the pressure on Congress. [link removed]

Our fight is not over. Please keep standing with us to take the next steps toward marijuana justice.

Sincerely,
