Wolverines in the lower 48 are disappearing because there's no longer enough spring snowpack for them to den and raise a family.
Trapping and habitat loss decimated their population, and now the climate emergency has them facing extinction.
It's a lethal combination. Wolverines can't wait any longer, nor can 273 other species on the brink. Our latest legal action is one of the largest ever launched under the Endangered Species Act.

Just moments ago we launched this action to force a decision for Endangered Species Act protection for 274 species, from the fierce wolverine to the humble western bumblebee.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service developed a plan four years ago to address a backlog of more than 500 species awaiting protection decisions, including those we're taking legal action for today.
But the Trump administration has stopped the agency from doing what it's required to do. So we're going all out to get these species the protections they urgently need.
There's no time to lose. Fewer than 300 wolverines exist in the lower 48. The western bumblebee has lost 84 percent of its population. And the iconic and fascinating Venus flytrap has been waiting for protection since 1975 — its population is now 2 percent of its former size.
The extinction crisis requires bold action. We won't sit on our hands and watch precious wildlife disappear forever.
This is an ambitious legal strategy. But we know it has power.
Under the George W. Bush administration, hundreds of species languished while politicians and others dragged their feet. We fought back and won, obtaining a historic settlement agreement advancing protection for 757 species.
