Friend,

Tonight's the DNC debate -- and we won't know how much time is going to be focused on climate until it's over, but we know one thing for sure:

_THERE WERE ZERO QUESTIONS ABOUT CLIMATE DURING THE LAST DEBATE._ AND CERTAINLY NOT ENOUGH TIME FOCUSED ON CLIMATE IN THE DEBATES BEFORE THAT, EITHER.

This will only change if we come together and demand it: Add your name today to demand climate leadership from the DNC and the Democratic presidential candidates ahead of tonight's DNC debate. ([link removed])

Thanks -- fingers crossed climate has a better night tonight.

Molly

Friend,

"No, you are not closing with an Ellen question."

"This question about Ellen is so stupid."

"Tonight's proceedings are sounding like a convincing argument that there really should be a dedicated climate-change debate."

Those were some of the reactions after last month's DNC debate concluded --_ without a single question about climate change,_ but a dedicated question instead on Ellen DeGeneres.

Don't get me wrong, I think Ellen is great. But the failure of the DNC and the media to give the climate crisis the time and attention it demands should make everyone reading this email furious. These debates shouldn't be about entertainment for entertainment's sake -- they should be a serious conversation about our future.

THERE'S ANOTHER DNC DEMOCRATIC DEBATE HAPPENING TOMORROW, AND WE NEED TO KNOW THAT CLIMATE WILL BE A FOCUS FOR THE CANDIDATES _AND_ THE MODERATORS. Add your name next to mine to call on the DNC and all the 2020 candidates to make climate change a priority in Wednesday's debate. ([link removed])

Look, we already know there's too much at stake here to step back, but there's even more on the line right now than usual:

Last week, President Trump's nominee to lead FEMA said, and I quote: "The climate has changed. I cannot attribute the scientific reasons why."

With wildfires raging in California and the East Coast still recovering from multiple historic hurricanes this year, we know that the climate is changing -- and we know exactly why. FEMA's job is to respond to these disasters -- how can they do that if it's led by someone who denies the science of our climate crisis?

To me, that is certainly a more pressing issue than Ellen DeGeneres. I hope, maybe, this time the DNC agrees.

Add your name next to mine to demand that climate is a focus on Wednesday's debate stage -- because we deserve more from candidates, moderators, AND from our party leadership. ([link removed])

Very truly yours,

Jay
