Hi friends,

We’re writing to invite you to a special opportunity tonight to hear Julia Olson - Founder, Executive Director, and Chief Legal Counsel for Our Children’s Trust, and lead counsel for Juliana v. Julia is being honored by the Santa Clara University School of Law with their 2022 Katharine & George Alexander Prize - a prestigious honor previously bestowed on such luminaries in the field of human rights law as Bryan Stevenson and Paul Hoffman.

You can watch this award ceremony - including Julia’s remarks about her work to protect children, the Juliana v. United States litigation, and a very exciting announcement about YOUTH v GOV, the feature-length documentary on the Juliana case - FREE by joining their livestream at 6:00pm Pacific / 9:00pm Eastern here!

Julia Has Been Busy!
As travel restrictions continue to lift, Julia has been crisscrossing the country to amplify and accelerate our critical work. Earlier this month, she provided a keynote speech on children’s rights, the constitution, and the climate crisis at the Midyear Meeting of the National Association of Women Judges. During her speech, Julia urged the third branch of our government to act on the climate crisis stating: “Our Courts have been far too silent for far too long on the largest crisis facing our children and all children to come…The perpetuity of our Nation, especially the health and safety of America’s children, depend on judicial participation.” She also traveled to Montana where she successfully secured new expert witnesses for the upcoming Held v. State of Montana trial and spoke alongside award-winning documentary filmmaker Christi Cooper at the MSU Leadership Institute’s film screening of YOUTH v GOV. Now she’s headed to Santa Clara for tonight’s prestigious event!

Your Support is Crucial
Securing expert witnesses, developing new cases, continuing to steward existing cases through the legal system, and supporting youth plaintiffs are just some of the many ways your invaluable donations help to secure climate justice for our young clients. As you know, we provide expert legal representation and support to these young climate leaders all at no cost to them or their families; we rely entirely on the generosity of grantmakers and donors like you whose critical tax-deductible contributions make this happen. These young people are fighting for their day in court where they can protect their constitutional rights and present evidence of how their own governments’ actions are causing them harm - and your support in helping them get there is critical!

Please consider some of the many ways you can help us continue our rapid and urgent pace:
  • Make a first-time donation of any amount.
  • Deepen your impact by signing on as a monthly donor.
  • Make a gift in honor of a friend, family member, one of our youth plaintiffs, or someone you admire in the fight for constitutional climate justice.
  • Invite your friends and family to make a gift.
  • Go to www.ourchildrenstrust.org/donate-now for easy and secure access to Our Children’s Trust’s giving page.
As always, thank you for your support. We will continue to update you on our youth-led climate litigation as new developments - and new cases! - arise. In the meantime, be sure to watch Julia at 6pm Pacific TONIGHT!

In solidarity,
