Dear John,
As all of you know, this past week Israel has been under fierce attack from the Iranian funded terror group, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), when over 450 missiles and mortars were fired into Israeli homes and communities, terrorizing Israeli civilians, including young children and the elderly.
EMET immediately sprang into action, doing what it can on Capitol Hill and with the Trump administration to make sure that they understand the situation clearly. Daily, our capable staff has been briefing Hill staff about Islamic Jihad, how this organization was created and funded by Islamist Iran, the leading state sponsor of terrorism, which bankrolls many other terror organizations throughout the world, including Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza, the Popular Mobilization Front in Iraq, and the Houthis in Yemen, and how the U.S should be assisting Israel in the fight against Iran, Islamic Jihad, and all the other Iranian proxies.
And this is just the latest of EMET’s good works.
Over the past few years, EMET has also been educating Congress and the administration about how Hezbollah, the terror group that prior to 9/11 had killed more Americans than any other group, controls Lebanon, and how it dominates the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF). This means that U.S. military aid that is given to the LAF, roughly $100 million a year, for a total of $2.3 billion since 2005, might eventually fall into the bloodstained hands of Hezbollah terrorists. That means that U.S. aid supplied to the LAF, such as A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft, MD530G light attack helicopters, M2A2 Bradleys, as well as pieces of artillery, semi-automatic grenade launchers and tons of ammunition, may all be used against our strongest ally in the Middle East, Israel. Partly as a result of EMET’s efforts, just recently, the Trump administration suspended the U.S. military aid that was being given to the LAF.
This is just one of many recent EMET victories. EMET has also led the successful fights for the Taylor Force Act, which stops much of the U.S. economic aid to the Palestinian Authority (PA) until the PA ceases to pay salaries to individuals who commit acts of terrorism and to the families of deceased terrorists. We led the successful fight for U.S. recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. And we led the successful fight for the U.S. to block the Islamist and anti-Semitic nation of Turkey, under Erdogan’s rule, from receiving the F-35 high tech fighter jets, particularly while it was simultaneously purchasing the S-400 missile system from Putin.
And throughout the more than 14 years that EMET has been in existence, it has always focused on educating about the dangers coming from Iran. To take just one example, in 2015, when former President Obama’s Iran deal was before Congress, EMET staff held over 150 meetings with Congressional staff to try to stop this dangerous deal. In 2015, Obama rammed the deal through, but EMET’s hard work paid off later, when EMET staff met with Trump administration officials, and President Trump eventually removed the U.S. from this disastrous deal.
EMET has gone from success to success on Capitol Hill and with the administration. As a result, we have the well-earned reputation as the “go-to-people” on Capitol Hill for Senators, Members of Congress, their staff, and Trump administration personnel.
Anyone who understands the importance of a strong and secure America, and a strong American-Israeli alliance, against the forces of radical Islam and terror understands the importance of our work.
EMET hopes that you can support our crucial work on Capitol Hill with the administration and the corridors of power here in Washington.
But we cannot do this work alone. We ask you to please consider supporting EMET however generously you are able, to aid us in continuing our mission to spread the Truth.
For the sake of Israel, the United States, and Western civilization as we know it.
Invest in EMET. Invest in the Truth.
And warmest wishes to you and all of your loved ones for a happy Thanksgiving,
Thank you very much,
Sarah N. Stern
