Northeast Wisconsin's Best and Brightest

Friend,
As a member of Congress, I have the opportunity to nominate students from Northeast Wisconsin to attend a U.S. service academy. This is one of the best parts of my job, and as a Marine, I take this responsibility very seriously.
Each year, I'm always impressed by the outstanding young leaders who apply to serve their country, and this year was no exception. And after an extremely rigorous process in which applicants submitted materials to my office, interviewed with my Military Academy Nomination Committee, and then received nominations, I'm proud to announce that four students from our community were admitted to service academies.
The bright young men and women who will make up the Class of 2026 at their respective academies are:
-
JoLee Klingeisen, who attends Pulaski High School and was appointed to the United States Air Force Academy. At Pulaski High School, JoLee has received awards recognizing her for outstanding academic excellence, served as captain of the varsity volleyball team, DECA Social Media and Public Relations Coordinator, and an apprentice writer for the Pulaski News.
-
Drew Homan, who attends Fox Valley Lutheran High School and was appointed to the United States Military Academy at West Point. At Fox Valley Lutheran High School, Drew finished in the top ten in his class academically, has run cross country and track all four years of high school, and took 5th place at the WIAA State Track Meet in the 3200 meter relay.
-
Jackson Smits, who attends Shawano High School and was appointed to the United States Naval Academy. At Shawano High School, Jackson ranks first in his class, is Student Council President, an Eagle Scout, and was Football Captain and a 1st team all conference offensive lineman.
-
Emma Hujet, who attends De Pere High School and was appointed to the United States Naval Academy. At De Pere High School, Emma has demonstrated academic excellence. Emma is Student Council President, was a four year varsity soccer player, a four year member of the drama club, and a member of the honors choir. Emma has sung the National Anthem at local events since the 4th grade, most notably singing at the National Curling Championships.
Please join me in congratulating some of Northeast Wisconsin's best and brightest as they begin their service to our country. I have no doubt that they will make our community -- and our country -- proud.
Semper Fi,
