Dear John,

Bookies have the odds of a White Christmas at 8/10.

Be prepared for a polar polling day with a postal vote.

This year, the deadline to apply for a postal vote is the same as regular voting, 26th November. You’ll need to register before you can apply for a postal vote. It’s quick and easy with Start Voting.

Many people have already received their postal voting packs, so what are you waiting for?

Once you’ve got the pack in the post, make sure you fill it in right and read the instructions carefully.

  • Put your date of birth, and NOT today’s date on the statement form (this is attached to the ballot envelope).
  • Put you signature inside the grey box on the statement form.
This is important, because your form will be scanned by a machine. If it’s not clear and inside the boxes, your vote could be void!

  • Cast your vote on the ballot paper.
  • Seal up in the ballot paper in the ballot envelope. Make sure the statement form is still attached to the ballot envelope.
  • Then put the whole thing into the other postal envelope, and post it!

Don’t just send Father Christmas a letter this December. Cast your vote by post!

But please, don’t put it up the chimney. You must post it with enough time to arrive at your polling station by 10pm on 12th December.

But don’t worry if you’ve left it too late to post, you can hand in your postal vote pack at your polling station or your council office, but only on election day.

Don’t be left out in the cold this election. Send Ebenezer Johnson his lump of coal for Christmas, and register for a postal vote today.

Best wishes,

Cary Mitchell
