resources!

For the past nine years, Shared Hope International has dedicated time and resources to analyzing the strength of each state’s laws addressing child sex trafficking. Throughout this time, we have seen significant advancements and a steady increase in state scores. This year Tennessee continues to hold the top spot, while Montana and Nevada are tied in second place. Nevada also achieved the most improved status this year, and ten states overall have raised their grades from 2018.

The progress from 2011 to 2019 is striking. In 2011, more than half of the states received failing grades, and no state had achieved an “A” grade. In 2019, there are now 15 states with an “A” grade, no failing states, and only two states have a “D” grade.

However, there is still work to be done. Even as grades increase and the national average score has climbed to 84.7, many states still struggle to improve their victim protection laws.
