Have You Ever Wondered How Green Is An Electric Vehicle Is?

Victoria Centre EV Charging

People argue that charging an EV uses electricity from a dirty power plant. Here?s why this isn?t true.

Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles of course, pollute from their exhaust. The transportation of oil via highly emitting ships, refining processes and transporting fuels to petrol stations creates even further air pollution than just the ICE vehicle itself.

Britain is improving it?s green infrastructure with more power coming from zero carbon sources such as wind turbines and solar power. The D2N2 charge points available in Nottingham and Derby originate from renewable sources such as these. 43% of the UK?s energy now comes from sustainable sources, meaning charging an EV is only getting greener.

If charging at home, you can you can sign up for a green tariff. Energy companies match your energy usage with the same amount of energy they have either bought or generated with renewable sources.

NCC Bidding For Electric Bus Funding

Electric Bus

Nottingham City Council and Nottingham City Transport (NCT) have bid for the Government?s Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas fund (ZEBRA).

This bid is an attempt to complete electrification of NCT?s single decker fleet. This would mean 78 new electric buses. NCT?s Trent Bridge depot where the single deck fleet is located will be funded using ZEBRA. These buses will serve on 18 bus routes across the city.

If the bid is successful, the new buses will be in service for the end of 2023/24 financial year. An announcement is expected from the Department for Transport in the spring.
