Your Ocean Activist update

Spring has sprung, the days are longer and clear blue skies have been luring us to our coastlines and riversides. But we're still having to think twice before diving in to the deep. It doesn't have to be like this...

So this year, we're turning the groundswell of momentum to #EndSewagePollution into a surge of action across the UK. And we need your support.

Join us on 23rd April to protest against water companies' wilful destruction of our precious blue spaces. Find your nearest event. Sign up. Bring a posse. [[link removed]] It's time to harness this collective wave of anger, energy and passion for the ocean and make it reverberate across the UK.

'Think global, act local', so the saying goes. Well, we've given you the tools to take action for clean water, so all that's left is the thinking... Read Hugo's latest blog for his take on the global moment we're all facing and how we can take on the challenge, together.

The ocean is our passion. But we can't protect the ocean without protecting our rivers. You can take action for our precious blue spaces in a few quick clicks. Are you on the river's side?

Yes, I'll sign the petition now! [[link removed]]

Our membership scheme is vital to our charitable mission. It helps fund all our work, like our #EndSewagePollution campaign [[link removed]] and the free Safer Seas & Rivers Service [[link removed]].

Did you know that you can sign up as a member for as little as £4 a month? Help us take the fight to the polluters (and bag yourself some bonus goodies, like our member journal Pipeline).

Join us today [[link removed]] The Ocean & Climate Emergency in focus: This month has seen a surge of stories on the climate crisis that snatched the air from our lungs. From reports of heatwaves at both poles [[link removed]], a sixth mass bleaching event on the Great Barrier Reef [[link removed]], to the IPCC's latest report [[link removed]], which gave the startling message: “Any further delay in concerted global action will miss a brief and rapidly closing window to secure a liveable future".But we can't let these stories slow us. Instead, they must spur us into taking more action. We get our motivation from the ocean and so it is with huge pride that we tell you that 'Thank you, Sea', the film created for last year's Ocean & Climate Emergency campaign, has won a Charity Film Award. Give it a (re)watch. Get in the sea. And be inspired to take action to protect this precious blue planet. [[link removed]]

This month we're looking inwards for inspiration. And what's more inspiring than younger generations taking action for the future?

So give it up for the pupils in our Plastic Free Schools programme! From 1st March to 8th April they're calling the government out on their failure to keep their promises on single-use plastic. Learn more about these budding Ocean Activists here. [[link removed]]
