Last week, George Kent and Ambassador Bill Taylor testified before the House Intelligence Committee about President Trump’s attempts to bribe a foreign country to investigate his political rivals. During their testimony, Trump managed to restrain himself from attacking either of the two white male civil servants.
On Friday, though, it took Trump less than an hour into her testimony to start attacking Marie Yovanovitch, an immigrant and career diplomat who was appointed to ambassadorships by both Presidents Bush and Obama. Trump’s real-time Twitter witness tampering is a testament to his inability to process a woman standing up to him.
With Yovanovitch’s compelling testimony, though, and the revelation last week that Suriya Jayanti, a U.S. embassy official in Kyiv and a woman of color, would be a key witness to the president’s demands that Ukraine hold a dummy investigation into the Bidens in order to impact the 2020 election -- it’s clear that he’s going to have to face more women who are willing to tell the world exactly how corrupt he is.
