Then, please see my story – about the movement Lucy and I never wanted to join – below.
John,
Fred Guttenberg here. Lucy McBath and I should never have had to meet, but now that we are in this fight, I am thankful every day that I know Lucy.
You see, we are members of the same movement: Parents who have lost their children way too soon due to gun violence.
My daughter Jaime was only 14-years-old when she went to school at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School one morning. She never came home – she was among the victims of the Parkland shooting. As we saw gross inaction and token “condolences” from our legislators in Florida and Washington D.C. after the shooting, I knew I couldn’t accept the status quo. I had to stand up and demand better. That’s how I (and so many other Parkland parents) met Lucy.
Gun safety advocacy is personal for Lucy, too. After her son Jordan was murdered, she turned her pain into purpose and became a “Mother of the Movement.” Then, she ran for Congress – and she won! She showed survivors of gun violence that we can create our own political power to fight the gun lobby: We can tell our stories, win elections, and pass new gun violence prevention legislation at all levels of government.
Unfortunately, there’s a very real chance that Lucy might not be leading our gun safety movement in Congress in 2023 if we don’t put her in a position to win right now.
John, Lucy’s FEC deadline on 3/31 is the last one before her make-or-break primary election, and it’s critical that her campaign exceeds their $45,000 digital fundraising goal. John, they’re still trying to raise another $28,510. Can you pitch in $5 to help right now? [[link removed]]

We simply can not afford to lose Lucy as our gun safety champion in Congress. Please offer her whatever help you can, John.
Thank you for your support of Lucy and our gun safety movement,
– Fred Guttenberg
