In just a moment, I’m going to ask you to add a critically important donation to my campaign — a race that will decide Senate control. But first, can I have a minute of your time to explain why your support will make a big difference right now?

Ron Johnson is now flooding the airwaves with two new campaign ads, Republicans have more than $200 million to pour into Wisconsin, and Mitch McConnell’s Super PAC is reportedly “all-in” to keep this seat red. With the GOP ramping up their spending so early, we knew we had to respond — so we launched our first TV ads much earlier than we expected.

I'll be frank: The money wasn’t in the budget, but my campaign manager made the case that if we want to defeat Ron Johnson and flip this Senate seat blue, we had to take some risks. So, we made the difficult decision to put seven figures into a TV ad buy in every major market across Wisconsin.

It was a risky move, no doubt, but the bigger risk was letting Ron Johnson and the GOP drown us out. Unfortunately, going up on TV early created a significant gap in our budget — one that we need to fill by March 31 in order to stay on the air. Now, I have to ask:

Will you please make a contribution to my campaign for U.S. Senate before our FEC end-of-quarter deadline to keep our ads on the air? I'm not taking a dime from corporate PACs, so the only way we can get back on track is with the help of this grassroots team.

We knew we were going out on a limb with these ads, but it's what we needed to do. Wisconsin will be the tipping point for Senate control and major election forecasters like CNN, Roll Call, and The Cook Political Report are all saying Ron Johnson is vulnerable.

The most recent head-to-head polling of our race shows I'm the only Democrat who can beat Ron Johnson, but it won't be easy. He has more cash on hand than anyone in this race, and while we may get outspent in this election, we cannot afford to be outworked.

That’s why we need to get our message in front of as many Wisconsin voters as possible, but we can only do that if we have enough resources to stay up on TV.
