This is shaping up to be a VERY important and difficult election year on issues of justice and mass incarceration – and we only have a narrow window of opportunity to use.

Time is of the essence. And our fundraising is crucial.

Here’s the deal: At this moment, SO much of the progress we made over the last five years is at stake. Our first justice champion District Attorneys that we helped put into office are now facing tough re-election races. Our newer DA’s are facing massive recall campaigns. And at the same time we’re trying to pioneer new candidates who want a chance to change the game.

Listen. Above all, I do not want to cede ANY ground to our opponents. They are the rich, mostly white, conservatives and the police unions who are fighting tooth and nail to preserve the mass incarceration machine – at the expense especially of Black communities, Black bodies, and Black lives.

If we LOSE any of our DA’s – who’ve worked against all odds to exonerate the innocent, prosecute corrupt police, and end for-profit imprisonment – it will be a grave loss.

Because when our justice champion DA’s lose, we lose, and the consequences are enormous:

• More violent cops keeping their badges and patrolling the streets.
• More innocent people wrongfully imprisoned with no chance of freedom.
• More kids trapped in a cycle of poverty and imprisonment without a way out; and so much more.

It tears up my heart to think about that potential reality. And it’s why I have to ask you:
