Dear John,
“There’s absolutely nothing like it on the left.”
That was Yale sociologist Phil Gorski who co-authored “The Flag and the Cross: White Christian Nationalism and the Threat to American Democracy”, speaking about the Christian Nationalists movement.
He’s seen the same thing I have. An incredibly well-organized movement, that’s powerful and dangerous because of the local and national networks they command to raise money and turn out people to polls, school boards, and protests.
But thanks to a rare MATCHING gift offer that expires on March 31, we have an opportunity to scale up our organizing efforts: to counter MAGA pastors and Patriot Churches… to stymie their efforts to restrict the rights of women and minorities… to build our coalition of secular champions who will vigorously defend our government against January 6 insurrectionists.
Will you contribute $15, $25, $50, or whatever you can afford to support the Center for Freethought Equality’s midterm-year efforts? Every dollar you donate will be MATCHED 2X (up to $5,000) - which means you’ll DOUBLE your impact!
If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: |

“People like us:” That’s who White Christian Nationalists want in control. People who are white, US-born, and extremely regressive. People who would ban abortion in all cases. People who want to teach children a corrupted version of history. People who don’t want everyone to vote, especially minorities. People who believe in Trump’s vision to “Make America Great Again.”
Your gift - DOUBLED until March 31st! - will fuel our efforts:
- to fight back against the misuse of religion to justify discrimination against LGBTQ+ people, religious minorities, and the nonreligious;
- to track and stop legislation that would restrict the rights of women and minorities;
- to identify, support, and recruit elected officials who will champion secular values, like Jared Huffman (D-CA) and Jamie Raskin (D-MD), who co-chair the Congressional Freethought Caucus and are actively defending the separation of church and state;
- to defend our rights to live free from religious tyranny and political violence - like the violence we watched in terror that occurred on January 6, 2021 - violence that some experts warn could happen again;
As the lobbyist for the Center for Freethought Equality, I’m incredibly grateful for your support of our work. We couldn’t do it without you.
Sincerely,
Rachel Deitch
