John,
It’s hard to believe, but we are almost one quarter of the way through 2022.
It's been a minute since we've been able to connect, so I wanted to share some updates about our work over the first three months of this year and let you know what we have coming down the pipeline at the Working Families Party. But before I dive into it — can you chip in with your first contribution of 2022 before our first quarterly deadline of the year? We're seeing a slowdown in our grassroots donations compared to last year, and if we're going to win the massive fights on the horizon, we will need a lot more power.

This year's midterm elections are a major opportunity to reshape the balance of power in this country. That's something the right clearly understands. But between newly drawn districts, dozens of congressional retirements, and exciting progressive slates running for office at every level, it's also a huge opportunity for us to elect a new generation of WFP champions ready to transform our country for the better.
In order to do it, we'll need to build on the majorities that Democrats hold now, defend our incumbent WFP champions, and elect more working people to Congress — leaders who will help grow the current Democratic majority into a real working families majority.
That means electing exciting new leaders to the House of Representatives like Delia Ramirez in Illinois, Jamie McLeod-Skinner in Oregon, Summer Lee in Pennsylvania, Nida Allam and Erica Smith in North Carolina, and Greg Casar, Jessica Cisneros, and Michelle Vallejo in Texas. It means electing champions to the U.S. Senate like Mandela Barnes in Wisconsin and Malcolm Kenyatta in Pennsylvania who will grow our majority and make corporate Democrats like Manchin and Sinema irrelevant.
But building a working families majority is about more than just Congress. We also have to win at the state level.
So this year, we'll be working hard to break Republican majorities and flip state legislatures in places like Arizona, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. And in bluer states like New York, California, Rhode Island, New Mexico, and others, we're going to elect the next generation of WFP champions, so we can prove that progressives in those states can actually govern.
Our north star is the midterm election, but our work to build this majority is already paying off. Just this month, Texas Democrats in three key congressional districts bet on Working Families Party champions who campaigned on health care as a human right, challenged environmental racism, championed unions, defended reproductive rights, and spoke up for trans youth. That first-in-the-nation primary set the tone for the 2022 election cycle and could very well signal where the Democratic Party is headed for the next generation.
This is how we beat the Republicans and corporate Democrats who are trying to stop our progress: by growing our bloc of Working Families champions who will combat their fearmongering and scarcity politics with a bold vision of a future that works for every single one of us, no matter what you look like or where you're from.
Now, we know this won't be easy. Organized capital won't go down quietly, and corporate PACs are already showing up this cycle in a major way.
At the Working Families Party, we depend on each other. We depend on your smarts, your creativity, your time — and your grassroots financial support. That's why I am asking if you will make your first contribution in 2022 of $3 today and help us meet our first quarterly deadline of the year this Thursday at midnight.
