Right now, there are 700,000 Americans who are being denied full
representation in our democracy.
They pay taxes. They volunteer. They perform civic duties. But in the
United States Congress, their voices are nearly muted. All because they
live in the Capitol of our nation -- the District of Columbia.

It’s no surprise that in a city whose population is 50% people of color,
Republicans are doing everything in their power to stop them from
receiving full representation. They’d rather suppress the voices of D.C.
residents instead of working to earn their vote.
For years, D.C. lawmakers have spoken out about this unfair dynamic --
about how their constituents have almost no say in the body that makes
laws that they must abide by. And finally, people are starting to listen.
This year, the House had its first hearing on D.C. statehood in almost 25
years. That’s real momentum, as people across the country are speaking out
against this age-old injustice: no taxation without representation.
[ [link removed] ]But we must do everything in our power to amplify the voices of
district residents, and voters who refuse to accept this brazen voter
suppression. Will you join the call for D.C. Statehood today?
