Here's a quick newsletter on everything we have going on:

ACTION: HOMES FOR ALL

At our very first Homes For All/Housing Equity meeting last Wednesday, we began planning two tabling/canvassing events. Both events will be held in order to collect testimony on our community's housing issues like eviction, safety issues, rising rents, etc. (to be sent to the State Legislature through Homes For All's organization.) At the same time, we will be able to connect with our community members. Please respond to the below RSVP's as to whether you can volunteer or help out in a different way from home.

2. April 30 - Big-Y Pittsfield 12-2PM

MIGUEL ESTRELLA MURDER

As many you might have heard, a Pittsfield Community member, Miguel Estrella was murdered by police over the weekend. Berkshires DSA is speaking with NAACP, Invest in Pittsfield and other community members about how to respond to this tragic violence on a POC, as more information is being "released". Stay tuned for updates.

FAIR SHARE AMENDMENT ENDORSEMENT UPDATE

Berkshires DSA voted to endorse the Fair Share Amendment in February. We will be sending out a Press Release and hope to help organizers in this statewide movement.

The Fair Share Amendment is a proposal to amend the Massachusetts Constitution, creating an additional tax of four percentage points on the portion of a person’s annual income above $1 million. The Berkshire Fair Share Committee is asking if any volunteers from Berkshires DSA would table at an April 4 event at BCC (please see flyer attached and email [email protected] if you are interested in participating.)

Our next monthly Chapter meeting will be Thursday, April, 14 at 7PM EST. Dial in details can be found and you may RSVP, here. We continue to need to build the chapter and nominate ourselves or fellow members to help lead the chapter. Please nominate someone for Co-Chair, Secretary/Treasurer and Comms Coordinator! The election date will be subject to all of your participation!
