Friend --

At this point, America has had more mass shootings in 2019 than there have been days in the year. Let that sink in.

We don't need more thoughts, prayers, and tweets. We need real, commonsense solutions. And right now, they're sitting on Majority Leader McConnell's desk.

I was proud to cosponsor a bill to expand background checks, a bill that the U.S. House passed months ago. These commonsense reforms are supported by majorities of Americans and gun owners. But Mitch McConnell is refusing to hold a vote.

We need courage and action. Sign the petition: Demand that Mitch McConnell hold a vote on universal background checks today!

Gun violence in our country has reached epidemic levels -- but politicians like the majority leader refuse to stand up to special interests like the NRA that have our legislative process in a vice-grip.

Earlier this year, I wrote an open letter calling on Mitch McConnell to show some backbone, choose principles over party and common interests over special interests.

Now, I need you to add your voice to mine. We need to show that Americans are demanding change, and that we can't wait one day more.

Sign the petition: Demand that Mitch McConnell hold a vote on universal background checks today! ( [link removed] )

Thank you,

Dean
