Hi Friend,

My name is Maria Chaplia. I’m a fellow with Independent Women’s Forum who usually writes about economics and trade, but today I’m writing to tell you about what’s happening in my home country, Ukraine.

I recently returned from Poland, where I was helping Ukrainian women and kids who are fleeing from the war. This war is disrupting families, creating a refugee crisis, and above all, unleashing terror.

Ukrainians never wanted this war. Putin came to our home because he doesn’t like democratic, freedom-loving, independent countries.

But Ukrainians will never surrender. The Ukrainian people will always choose freedom. Putin will always choose slavery, horror, and atrocities.

Every donation coming from the American people has helped us survive this onslaught. But we need more. We need more food, more diapers, more medical care, more ammunition, more shelters and more schools for our displaced children.

We also need to end the West’s reliance on Russian oil.

Crude oil and petroleum products from Russia have funded Putin’s atrocities. We can’t keep bankrolling thugs, dictators and genocidal actors by purchasing their oil. We can’t keep subjecting the American people to their weaponization of gas prices. We’re all suffering. We’re all paying the price.

Once and for all, America must end its addiction to foreign oil.

Our safety and security — and America’s status as the leader of the free world — depends on it. Demand that the White House cease its war on U.S. energy and restore America’s posture as energy independent by signing our petition.

Thank you for supporting our people. We will not give up our fight for freedom.

Sincerely,
Maria Chaplia
