Dear John,

I wanted to be sure you saw my team’s new email! We’re celebrating Women’s History Month by highlighting the candidates we were able to help put in office last cycle.

This week, we want to uplift Sharice Davids. As the first openly LGBTQ+ member of Kansas’ congressional delegation and one of the first two Native American women ever elected to Congress, Rep. Davids continues to make history and uplift marginalized voices in the House.

Having women like Sharice Davids in office means more than just equal representation – Native American children can now find their culture front and center in Congress, and queer people of color have a role model to look up to in considering a run for office of their own.

We want to make sure voices like Congresswoman Davids’ have a chance to win and stay in office. How about you? By supporting our mission, we can endorse more women like Sharice Davids across the country.

About Her District

Congresswoman Sharice Davids represents Kansas' 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. She won her election against the incumbent Republican by a nearly double-digit margin. She is currently the only Democrat representing Kansas in Congress.

Why She Ran

Rep. Davids worked in economic and community development on Native American reservations, helping tribes to create programs and initiatives for growth. This work inspired her to apply for the prestigious White House Fellowship program, where she served under President Barack Obama and continued to create economic opportunities for others.

Leadership in Action

Davids is the first openly LGBTQ+ Kansan and one of the first two Native American women elected to Congress.

She introduced the Women’s Business Centers Improvement Act (WBCIA), which increases access to resources and opportunities for female entrepreneurs across the country. Last Congressional session, the WBCIA passed with unanimous bipartisan support.

Rep. Davids continues to lead with compassion and honor experiences beyond her own. Just this year, she announced the launch of her fourth annual “Valentines for Vets” program to collect and distribute Valentine’s Day cards to veterans and caregivers in the Kansas Third District.

Sharice Davids’ continued commitment to serve her constituents proves that we need more leaders like her in Congress. She’s an accomplished attorney, a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, and trained in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) – we think Rep. Davids is a true all-around inspiration. We are proud to support her as she fights to make sure everyone has the same opportunities to achieve their goals.

At A Woman’s Place, we believe that we need more women like Congresswoman Sharice Davids in positions of leadership. That’s why we put our money where our mouth is: by providing financial support to candidates just like Rep. Davids.
